A Message from the Unicorn Class Teacher, Mrs Oliver
We are in our final term but things are not slowing down! We have lots planned over the next 6 weeks including sports day, a trip to the theatre and Healthy Living week.
In English this term we will be writing diary entries, newspaper reports, short stories and descriptive writing. In our GPS (Grammar, punctuation and spelling) lessons we will be revising tenses, punctuation and focusing on our spellings.
Guided Reading will take place daily in class, giving the children the chance to read to an adult twice a week and consolidate their GPS learning.
The children are expected to read at home at least 5 times a week for at least 15 minutes a session. Reading record books need to be kept updated please.
We believe that reading underpins all learning and therefore hold it as a high priority in the children's education.
This term the children will be learning all about materials and their properties with Miss Tallett.
Our topic this term is Ancient Civilizations. We will learn about their lifestyles, beliefs and how they have influenced our modern society.
Unicorns PE day will be on a Wednesday with Andy. Please make sure that children have their full kit for this. They will be taking part in a range of sports and games.
This term we will be learning how to live a moral life.
I have high expectations of all the children in my class and believe that each one can reach their potential. I expect excellent behaviour, manners and hard work at all times. Unicorns will uphold the school values and try their best.
If you have any problems, questions or concerns please feel free to either come in and see me or contact me.
I look forward to a fantastic year, working with fantastic children.
Mrs Fay Oliver
