Welcome back to term 6, we hope you had a lovely half term. We are now in our final term and the countdown has started for summer. We have got a very busy term ahead with lots of fun including sports day, a trip to Margate and transitions into year 3.

This week's learning can be found here  Timetable for Week beginning 19th June

In English this term we have begun reading The Twits by Roald Dahl. We will be writing different types of texts focused on this book including an explanation text, instructions and letter writing. We will also continue working on our GPS (grammar, punctuation and spelling), securing and consolidating our learning.

In maths this term we will be revisiting a range of areas to secure and consolidate our learning. We will also continue to develop our problem solving and reasoning skills.

In science this term we will be learning about plants, including naming different plants and explaining how they are suited to different habitats.

In topic this term we will continue learning about 'Our World', including naming the countries and capital cities that make up the United Kingdom.

In RE this term we are learning how to live a moral life, this includes fabulous opportunities for reflection and class discussions.

This term our PE with Andy is on Wednesday morning.

Please ensure that your child's PE kit is in school.

Your child should have already been given a homework task board for term 6 which will be stuck into their homework book.

Your child needs to complete one task each week, choosing activities from different columns. It is important that your child engages in these homework tasks weekly.

Homework is due in every Monday and books will be sent back out on Wednesday for the next homework to be completed.

Spellings are sent out every Monday. Your child needs to complete all four spelling boxes by Friday, ideally completing one box every day. Please ensure that your child's spelling folder is returned to school on Friday so that we can prepare next week's spellings ready for Monday.

Your child is expected to bring in their reading book and reading record in every dayYour child is regularly heard reading within school, but it is really important that they are also reading at home.

Please encourage your child to read other texts such as:

  • Comics
  • Newspapers
  • Recipes
  • Shopping list

If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
